Instructor: Kahu Hoakalei of Halau Kameleokalani
Learn the history, protocol, meles and hula movements of this very ancient Hawaiian dance form. The chants and oli that are used in the halau will be covered as well as auana and kahiko hula styles. There is a commitment that is required that will assist one in acquiring the proper training and experience in the hula. Kahu Hoakalei (Len-Erna Cotton) was born and raised in Hawaii and comes from a traditional hula lineage. She is passing on her ohana (family) legacy to her haumana (students) at this time. She is also trained in Po'ohuna (Ancient Hawaiian Mysteries), Ho'omana (Spiritual Power Generation) and La'au Kahea (Calling Medicine) and brings this forth in her teachings.
